However, the reduced size of *35S*::*RZR1* tobacco plants could be due to dominant effects of overexpression of *RZR1*. While *CBP20* and *ABO3* are closely related, they exhibit different functions in plant development. Overexpression of *CBP20* resulted in retarded growth and vascular patterning, whereas *ABO3* overexpression results in a semi-dominant suppressor of the *tos17* allele of *abscisic acid insensitive3* (*abi3*) ([@B1]). While *CBP20* overexpression caused growth retardation, *RZR1* overexpression did not cause growth retardation in tobacco. It is likely that this difference is due to the distinct levels of *CBP20* and *RZR1* overexpression. Similar to *RZR1* overexpression, overexpression of *CBP20* causes up-regulation of *GH3* and *C4H* genes, which results in a metabolic shift from carbohydrates to lipids in the developing seeds ([@B5]). In addition, overexpression of *CBP20* results in down-regulation of *LEC1*, *WUS*, and *WOX5* ([@B5]).
